Tobacco Use
In accordance with KSA 21-4010 and in the interest of the public health, smoking will be prohibited in campus buildings. The following areas are designated for smoking in proximity to campus buildings:
1. Main Building: Area adjacent to the rear entrance to the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena
2. Riney Student Conference Center: Loading dock across from Stanion Field.
3. Chandler Hall: Crosswalk entrance to parking area between Chandler and Scholarship Hall.
4. Gwaltney Hall: South entrance in the parking area.
5. Ag Power: Parking area away from shop door
6. Novotny Hall: Picnic table between Novotny and North Halls.
7. North Hall: Picnic table between Novotny and North Halls.
8. Scholarship Hall: Crosswalk entrance to parking area between Chandler and Scholarship Hall.
9. Porter Hall: Rear parking area
10. Beck Hall: Rear parking area
11. Electrical Power Technology Center: East side of classroom building
All designated smoking areas will be prominently posted and announcements on location of nearest smoking area will be made prior to all public events. Entrances that are not designated for tobacco usage will also be posted as such.
SMOKELESS TOBACCO
The use of smokeless tobacco on the PCC campus is prohibited.
SANCTIONS
1. Students found violating this policy, to include possessing evidence of recent use (examples: containers with cigarette ash and smokeless tobacco residue, capped or uncapped that are visible), will be subject to the following sanctions:
- First offense - Mandatory enrollment in college sponsored, one credit smoking/tobacco cessation course at the student's expense or $200 fine. (Scholarship will not apply)
- Second or subsequent offense - $250 fine
2. Employees found violating this policy will be subject to disciplinary action as follows:
- First offense - Letter of reprimand and mandatory enrollment in college sponsored, one credit smoking/tobacco cessation course at the employee's expense. Tuition remission will not apply.
- Second offense - Three-day suspension without pay
- Third Offense - Termination of employment.
