Staff Development Statement


Pratt Community College is committed to fostering an environment that enables individuals to seek opportunities for professional growth and enrichment.  The college will assist its employees in developing to their potential and improving their ability to meet job responsibilities by providing opportunities and encouraging participation in educational training and development programs.  The administration will identify, recommend, plan, organize, and administer specific in-service programs and will encourage maximum participation.PurposeThe purpose of the Staff Development program is to improve the quality of the college's staff by:

  1. Providing orientation programs to ease or speed the adjustment to a new work situation;
  2. Providing opportunities to build new skills and to hone skills already possessed by employees;
  3. Providing programs that lead to job satisfaction and promotional opportunities, thereby reducing turnover;
  4. Developing better management and supervisory skills through programs on leadership, human relations, setting and attaining goals, and interpersonal skills;
  5. Providing opportunities to acquire skills and knowledge necessary due to new technology.

EligibilityAll regular employees are eligible with their supervisor's approval.Professional Development Plans (Staff Employees)Professional and Classified Staff will complete a plan of professional development, to be endorsed by his/her supervisor and approved by the respective vice president/athletic director. It will be reviewed annually at the employee’s performance evaluation Training Records A record of completed training/professional development will be submitted to the Personnel office along with the completed annual performance appraisal to be maintained as part of his/her personnel record.
