Power-pack line-up speaks at PCC

06 October 2014

Representatives from all 19 community colleges in Kansas and legislators from the state came to Pratt Community College in mid-September for the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees quarterly meetings.

During the meetings, they had a reception at the Vernon Filley Art Museum and listened to many speakers, including Noah Brown, President/CEO of the Association of Community College Trustees.

Brown spoke about the role that community colleges play in America and how trustees can better advocate for the community colleges in their areas.

Those in attendance at the meetings, also heard presentations from Andy Tompkins, former President and CEO of the Kansas Board of Regents, and Kenny Wilk, chair of KBOR.

“We had a power-pack line-up,” said Dr. Michael Calvert, PCC president. “It was great having them on campus.”

Legislators in attendance included Congressman Mike Pompeo, who gave a presentation; Senators Mitch Holmes, Terry Bruce and Steve Abrams and Representatives John Ewy, Kyle Hoffman, Garrett Love and Tom Arpke.

“PCC was represented very well,” Calvert said. “We received many positive comments from people who were here for the event.”
