Lady Beavers fall 10-2 against Butler Grizzlies
The Lady Beavers faced their second nationally ranked team in as many matches September 16 at Butler County.
“The number six ranked Grizzlies were in good form, but the Beavers brought their “never give up” attitude,” said Schicke.
The Lady Beavers were down by six goals at the half, but managed to dominate play in the opening 25 minutes of the second half. Jasmine Torrente scored a goal from 45 yards out after Holly Harrod had broke the Grizzlies defense and got a shot on goal. The rebound found its way to Jasmine for the Beavers first goal.
Within ten minutes, Jordan Biester dispossessed the outside defender and found the feet of Gemma Whitehead for a screaming 35 yard goal.
Butler’s depth proved to be the difference as the final tally came to 10-2.
“It was nice to see the girls step up and battle with one of the best teams in the nation,” said Schicke. “Getting some other names on our score sheet is nice as we go into the rest of our conference matches.”
