Cross Country Opens Season at Wichita State JK Gold Classic
The Pratt Community College men and women's cross country team opened their 2012 campaign competing in the Wichita State JK Gold Classic on Saturday morning.
“I was very proud of our team," Head Coach Ryan Turner said. "This week was a difficult week of training and they’ve been sore. In time the soreness will go away and we’ll continue to develop and show progress.”
Freshman Jenny Boroughs was the top Pratt finisher, completing the 4K course in 17:01 to take 55th place overall. This bested Jenny’s previous career best time from high school. She was the 19th overall community college finisher.
Sophomores Blake Thompson and Bernardo Miranda finished their 6K race with times of 23:08 and 25:09 to take 106th and 127th place overall. Thompson’s time and place was an improvement from his 2011 Wichita State JK Gold performance of 126th place and 26:11 for the 6K distance.
