Women's Basketball at Allen County Community College
Last night the women traveled to Allen County to take on the Red Devils. It was the second time Pratt had taken on the Red Devils this season, as they had escaped with a three point win at home early in the season. The Beavers jumped all over Allen in the first six minutes of the game with a 12-0 run, locking them down and forcing tough shots. Allen responded on their home court though, and in a big way. The Red Devils started banging in three after three as they pushed ahead to a 35-33 halftime lead behind seven first half three-pointers.
Pratt again jumped out in the first eight minutes behind lockdown defense, only allowing the Red Devils 4 points throughout that stretch. The Beavers were patient on the offensive end and mixed inside outside play well. Maddie Pendry’s jump shooting led the outside attack, while Hayli Smith and Elle Stein got good looks battling in the post. Pratt pulled out to a two possession lead most the second half and held on at the free throw line as Allen tried to get back in the game.
Maddie Pendry had a great all-around game scoring 18 points, pulling in 10 rebounds, and dropping 3 assists. It was a balanced attack from there for Pratt got double-doubles from two freshman with Tatiana Grant adding 10 points, 10 rebounds, Elle Stein with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The biggest key in the 66-58 win for the Beavers was a +23 margin on the boards. With the win Pratt moves to 9-3 on the season. The ladies will finish up first semester action at Crowder College in Neosho, MO this Saturday.
