Women's Basketball vs Allen County Community College
Last night the Beavers were back at home against a much improved Allen County. In the first half Pratt did a great job on the defensive end of limiting Allen to one look and forcing tough shots, holding the Red Devils to 6 of 30 from the field (20%). On the offensive end when the Beavers didn’t turn it over they got good looks, especially in the post as they took a 26-17 lead into the break.
The second half was hard for both teams to get into a rhythm as the sound of a whistle became the theme of the half. For the game there were 46 fouls called and 65 free throws attempted between the two teams. Pratt jumped to a 13 point lead on a three-pointer by Hayli Smith with about 13 minutes to go, but from there the offense went stagnant and Allen got back in the game at the charity stripe. Down the stretch the Beavers did a good job of forcing long shot by Allen and executing just enough on the offensive end. Allen had a desperation 3 to tie but it didn’t go down and the Beavers escaped with a 57-54 win and moved to 5-0 on the young season. Tatiana Grant (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Elle Stein (10 points, 10 rebounds) both got their first career double-doubles to help the cause.
