Softball Advances to Region Tournament

The Lady Beavers went 2-1 on Saturday at Cloud County to advance to the Region Tournament in Topeka this weekend.
 
In game one, Hannah Page went 1-2, but Pratt still fell to Cloud 6-1 in seven innings.  Cloud's Amanda Bekemeyer, Catherine Wallace, Jori Latta and Nikkel Taylor combined for seven hits and five RBIs.
 
In game two, down four runs in the fourth, Pratt recovered thanks to Hannah Page's hit in the seventh, and pulled out a 6-5 win over Cloud.
 
With the score tied at five, Page reached on an error, scoring Liz WahlPage racked up two RBIs on one hit for Pratt.
 
 
Derian Weber got on base three times in the game for Pratt. She also drove in one runner. She singled in the fifth and sixth innings.
 
 
The bottom of the third saw Cloud take an early lead, 3-0. A triple by Nikkel Taylor, plating Charissa Weeks and Jori Latta started the inning off. Cloud pushed more runs across when Taylor scored when Amanda Bekemeyer was hit by a pitch.
 
Cloud got one-run rallies in the fourth inning and the fifth. In the fourth, Cloud scored on a wild pitch, bringing home Kaylee Mick.
 
Pratt scored two runs in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh. In the fifth, Pratt scored on an RBI single by Weber, scoring PagePratt never surrendered the lead after the seventh inning with the help of the runs piled on thanks to an RBI single by Corrin Cook.
 
In the third game of the day, Pratt pounded Cloud 9-0 at Condordia in six innings.  Pratt scored four runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Corrin Cook, and a steal of home by CookLiz Wahl racked up two RBIs on two hits for Pratt. She singled in the fourth and sixth innings.
 
 
 
Pratt's Kiersten Howell kept Cloud off the scoreboard for all six innings she was on the hill. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up three.
 
 
The game's last lead went to Pratt thanks to a second inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on a sacrifice fly by Wahl.
 
Pratt tacked on another three runs in the fourth. The inning got off to a hot start when Wahl singled, bringing home Ashton Neumann. That was followed up by Cook's double, scoring Melissa Brown.
