
Coaches
Brian Dickens comes to Pratt Community College from Jasper High School in Jasper, Texas. Dickens’ Jasper team won the school’s first tournament in five years at the Hemphill Invitational and placed several players on All-District teams both years. Prior to Jasper, Coach Dickens was Head Volleyball and Head Boys Basketball Coach at Vernon High School in Vernon, Fla. At Vernon, Dickens’ teams won their District Championship once and both JV and Varsity Conference titles in his last season there.
Dickens’ collegiate coaching has included a Men’s NIRSA collegiate club at The Citadel where the team was a member of the SSCVL, a very respected NIRSA Men’s College Club league. He finished four years there with an 81 – 39 record and a 25 match tournament win streak. While at The Citadel, Dickens also helped found the school’s first ever Women’s NCAA Division I Volleyball program. He served as a consultant and recruiting aid. Dickens has coached at SC State as assistant and helped the team post its only winning season since 2001.
Dickens’ most recent college coaching was as Head Women’s Volleyball Coach for NAIA school Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. His team was undefeated in MCC conference and won the Region VII title in 2005. IWC finished their season with a 22 – 13 record and a second straight trip to the NAIA National Tournament in San Diego, California. While at IWC he coached a unanimous 1st Team All-American and a 3rd team All-American along with 3 All – Conference, 3 Academic All-Americans, 5 Academic All-Conference players. Dickens was NAIA Region VII Coach of the Year and AVCA Region VII Coach of the Year in 2005.
Dickens has taught and coached in SC, NC, GA, IA, FL, TX and now KS. He has a M.Ed. in Physical Education from The Citadel and has given International, National, State and Local presentations in both sports and teaching areas. Dickens was invited to present in Beijing, China at the first China-US Physical Education Conference. He is originally from Mt. Pleasant, SC.
