Baseball Sweeps BMC, Burns Hits for Cycle
Matt Burns ended the first game of a doubleheader with Brown Mackie by hitting a two-run homerun over the left field fence. The blast shortened the game by the run rule. The Beavers beat the Lions 14-4 at Stanion Field. The homerun also completed the cycle for Burns, who tripled in the second inning, singled in the third, and doubled in the fifth. Burns had four RBI in the first game.
Tanner Kilmer (2-0) pitched three innings, giving up one earned run on three hits to earn the win. Taylor Gentry pitched the fourth inning and struck out all three batters he faced. Matt DeVaux finished the game by pitching a scoreless sixth inning.
Skylar Angood, Ethan Elrod, Aaron Beil, and Jordon Jenkins all had two RBI for the Beavers. Hank Wellborn had three hits and scored three runs. Todd Reller added a double and one RBI. The Beavers had a total of 14 hits in the first game and stole five bases.
Hank Wellborn (2-0) pitched three scoreless in the second game to pick up the win. Brad Richardson pitched two innings in relief, giving up one run on one hit. Alex Cox and Richard Mais each pitched a scoreless inning in relief for the Beavers.
Skyler Sumner and Skylar Angood each had two RBI for Pratt in the second game. Angood also added three stolen bases. Jake Strecker had one hit and two RBI. Elrod, Beil, Jenkins, and Bobby Warchuck all chipped in one RBI for the Beavers, who won the second game 10-1.
Pratt will travel to Colby this weekend to finish their regular season with a four-game series with the Colby Community College Trojans. First pitch for the doubleheaders will be 1:00pm. Follow all the action this weekend on Twitter.
