Baseball Beats Seward 4-0

Release Date:
Saturday, April 23, 2011

Freshman Jarrod Jameson (4-6) scattered nine hits over seven innings to pitch a complete game shutout against Seward County at Stanion Field on Saturday. Jameson struck out five batters to earn his fourth win of the season and give the Beavers a 4-0 victory in the first game of a doubleheader.

Jameson received some run support from his former high school teammate, Ethan Elrod. Elrod, a fellow graduate of Putnam City (OK) North High School, slammed a two-run homerun and added a RBI single to finish with three of the Beavers’ four RBI. Jordon Jenkins added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning when he doubled in Blaine Aldrich.

In between games of the doubleheader, the 2011 sophomore class was honored with a ceremony on the field. The fourteen members of the sophomore class have been instrumental in the turnaround of the Pratt Baseball program. They have led the Beaver Baseball team to huge gains both on and off the field in their two years at Pratt.

The Beavers lost the second game of the doubleheader 11-5. Ethan Elrod and Skylar Angood both had 2 RBI to pace the Beaver bats. Blaine Aldrich also had two hits and a RBI for Pratt. Richard Mais pitched the final 2.1 innings in relief, giving up no runs on one hit and struck out two batters.

Pratt and Brown Mackie will play Wednesday at Stanion Field. First pitch for the doubleheader will be 4:00pm, and it will be the final home game of the season for the Beavers. Follow all the action Wednesday on Twitter and on our webcast.
