PCC Cheer Squad Wins Jam Fest Nationals
The PCC Cheer Squad traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma last weekend for the Jam Fest National Competition and returned home with the first place trophy for their division. After a somewhat nervous first day, the team bounced back to score 7.784 and take first place.
“The team went out the first day looking very nervous and got pretty flustered,” said Head Coach Shayla Jacobs. “They hit all of their stunts and only had a few minor deductions on some tumbling, so that part was good. They got off on counts a little so weren't all together on everything and just didn't look real clean. I think they were too nervous to even smile so the performance part was lacking a bit.”
“On Sunday I felt like a whole different team came to the floor,” continued Jacolbs. “They were calm and confident and had a great time performing to the crowd. The routine started out great, the best I had seen them all year. About half way through we had one stunt fall, which was very unexpected. But they got up, smiled and kept going like nothing happened. They finished the routine perfectly. I was much happier with their performance and despite the fall (which was a huge deduction off of their total score) they improved their score to a 7.784. The cheer team has worked so hard this year and I am so proud of their accomplishments so I can't think of a better way to end the year than with a National Championship.”
