Beaver Wrestling Scrimmage

The 15th Ranked Pratt Community College Beavers started off their season with their annual Black and Blue Scrimmage on Monday, October 25.
 
At 125, returning All-American and currently ranked fourth in the nation, Jesse Barber, won in dominating fashion over Jabez Zinabu 20-5. One of the highlight matches of the night as at 133 with Jose Sanchez from Kannapolis, North Carolina, and Cody Wildin from Marion, Kansas. Sanchez defeated Wildin in overtime 11-5. At 141, Nick Schwagger defeated Devin Bingham 15-7. At 149, Adam Klein and Sage Timmesch were in a tight battle, with Klein winning 12-11. At 157, there were two matches. Austin Gunter defeated Keegan Smith 6-4, and Austin Baird from Pratt, Kansas, beat Hunter Edwards 7-6. At 165, DJ Collins won in impressive fashion over ninth ranked, Randall Clements, with a pin. In the most exciting match of the night, number 11th ranked Dillion Walker defeated number 11th ranked Alex Feldkamp 6-5 in double overtime with advantage going to Walker with five seconds of riding time. At 197, there were two matches.  Dustin Hackett won in impressive fashion over sixth ranked Brandon Smith by fall. In the second 197 match, Josh Bush defeated Christian Duckens 20-5. In the Heavyweight class, Xavier Fisher beat Tim Taquoi by a pin.
 
“I was impressed with the first night of matches,” Coach Josh Carroll said. “I look forward to this team’s progression throughout the year, and finding out how good we can become.”
 
The Beavers’ first home match is against 11th ranked Neosho County Community College on November 2 at 7 p.m. in the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena.
