Beaver Track and Field Members To Compete at Next Level
The Beaver Track and Field team made 2010 a year of many firsts. Freshman Joe Cordell, Little River, Kansas broke two twenty year old school records. He broke the indoor shot put and weight throw records. In addition to Cordell’s school records, PCC Track and Field’s 4x100m (42.68) and 4x400m (3:21.33) relay teams ran faster than they have since Coach Cyrus Hall showed up three years ago. The improvement in the program can be seen not only on the track but in the classroom as well in the graduation of eight of the team’s ten sophomores.
Almost all the sophomores received scholarship offers to the next level, with four young men accepting scholarships. David Cesmat of Greensburg, Kansas and Lacey Davis of St. Petersburg, Florida have signed scholarships to run at NAIA school, Sterling College. And Chad Yeargin of Newton, Kansas has signed on to run at NCAA Division I University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff next year. Sophomore DJ Reta of Cullison, Kansas will also continue his athletic career next year, as a rower for Wichita State University.
