Baseball Beats Dodge in the 9th Inning

Zach Sell singled in Ethan Elrod in the bottom of the ninth to give the Beavers a 17-16 victory against Dodge City in the second game of a doubleheader at Stanion Field. Elrod led off the ninth inning being hit by a pitch. Matt Burns moved Elrod to second base on a sacrifice bunt. Zach Sell rifled the first pitch up the middle to score Elrod and give the Beavers the win. Freshman Jaxson Johnson pitched the final 2.2 innings to pick up the win. Bradly Ware performed well in relief, pitching 2.2 innings and giving up one run and striking out one. Pratt and Dodge combined for 36 hits and 33 runs in the nine-inning game.

The Beavers dropped the first game 5-3. Justin Freer pitched 5.2 innings, giving up four runs and striking out three in the losing effort. Josh Goodman added 1.1 innings in relief, giving up one run on two hits. Aaron Beil was 2-3 with a double. Jacob Hollis and Sean McElgunn both had RBIs for the Beavers. Pratt improved their overall record to 11-14 on the season. The Beavers will host Bethany College JV on Wednesday at Stanion Field. The doubleheader begins at 4:00pm.
