PCC Men’s Basketball Suffers First Loss at Tonkawa
The Men’s Basketball Team played even for most of the game on Wednesday night against Northern Oklahoma—Tonkawa, but turnovers and foul trouble allowed Tonkawa to pull away from the Beavers in the last eight minutes of the game. Pratt suffered their first loss of the season 74-67.
The Beavers were led on offense by LaShawn Kelley’s 14 points, followed by Tyrone Gordon with 12, and Illiwa Baldwin with 11. Baldwin also led the team in rebounds with 8.
Pratt did not shoot particularly well for the game, hitting only 37% from the field. The Beavers made 4 of 22 beyond the arc for 22%. At the charity stripe, Pratt hit 48%. Tonkawa also struggled from the field at 40%, but hit 9 of 19 threes for 47%. The Mavericks also connected on 79% of their free throws.
Pratt barely lost the rebounding battle 36 to 40. It didn’t help that Illiwa Baldwin fouled out with 8 minutes remaining. Tonkawa also enjoyed a 14 to 19 turnover advantage, but Pratt had 10 steals to the Mavericks 5.
